“I highly recommend Miles; he has supported and guided me in so many areas of my life. We have been working together online for years. I am a father of 4 beautiful children, a loving husband, and a reliable friend. On top of that, I am a seasoned entrepreneur who keeps me very busy. I was recommended to work with Miles a couple of years ago by a closer friend. It was one of the best health and fitness investments I have ever made. Miles has held space for me to learn and apply an approach that works for ME every single day. I know he has my back when it comes to my health, wellness, and fitness. He is very reliable, and patient, and is a pro at listening to what is going on. He is capable of problem-solving and supporting me in creating real solutions. His background on how the brain operates has helped me understand how to manage my unique nervous system to show up as the best version of myself each day is valuable for me, my family, and my relationships. I am so glad that I continue to work closely with Miles. Miles helped me create time to care for myself effectively; each hour I spend with him is critical.”

“I work in the tech industry, and I was a flat-out workaholic who hadn't taken care of myself for years. I felt stuck in auto-pilot, not knowing where to start. Even if I put what energy I had into my health, wellness, and fitness, I just ended up feeling worst, in pain, and sadly at times hopeless. I needed a real break from my stressful and demanding lifestyle, so I decided to take some time for myself and take a vacation to Hawaii. This led me to one of the best decisions/ experiences of my life; as much as Hawaii was a significant change of environment for me, the real blessing was working closely with Miles during my stay in Hawaii. He listened to me and held space for me. In the short amount of time I spent with him, he met me where I was mentally and physically. He guided me to address my nervous system needs with real solutions and a host of other valuable tools and practices. Much of what he was sharing was new, but I always felt like he wanted me to understand, resonate with it, and make it my own. I was amazed at how much Miles knows about how the brain works, which led me to understand my body's pain. I did the work, and my pain didn't limit me anymore. I still see miles via online coaching and training currently. We meet a couple of times a week. After building a great framework around my health, wellness, and fitness, I am now in a better place. I appreciate having him as a part of my journey. Thank you, Miles! See you soon!”

“I have never worked with a trainer before. I am not someone that has frequented gyms and my fitness background is very fresh and new, as fitness was not a big part of my life until the last few years. Because of this, I had no idea what to expect from Miles (I really had a stereotypical idea of trainers in general). Miles took a detailed report of my past, all my injuries, what little experience I had, and what I liked to do for fitness. He then completely tailored workouts for me that began healing my nervous system and got me moving. Imagine that...I was doing workouts I liked and my body was actually healing, rather than breaking down further. I am very grateful to have worked with him and look forward to seeing what else we can accomplish!”

-Mohammed A.

“Miles is an amazing holistic trainer who helped me strengthen both my mind and body. Prior to working with Miles, I was doing the same routine and not seeing the results I wanted. Over the last two years, I wanted to learn how to surf but didn't have the muscle groups or foundation to take it on. Miles helped me develop new patterns and habits from stretching to breathing, to focusing/preparing the mind, and created a custom strength training plan over the course of the year. My goal was to become more flexible and loosen my hip joints while strengthening my core, leg muscles, and overall balance to give surfing my best shot. I now feel confident surfing in Santa Cruz or Hanalei Bay with the foundation Miles has helped me build. I highly recommend Miles to help you achieve your best self. He has certainly helped me achieve mine!”

-Matthew G.

”Miles is an extraordinary coach - he goes above and beyond the basics of "fitness." Miles inspired me to have a positive outlook on life and never give up. Thanks to Miles I gained 20lbs of muscle, woke up with a smile on my face, and enjoy long walks with my golden retriever (Miles also shared about how a dog can promote positivity in our lives). I highly recommended Miles!”

-Kevin L.

“Miles is a life changer. I have done a lot of training and exercise throughout my life – it’s an important part of my mental and physical health. However, working with Miles is so much more than “training”- he is helping me build the strength, resiliency, and mind-body connections that I need to be able to live the life that I want. He’s helped me avoid injury, improve my surfing, and feel stronger than I ever have before. He’s educated me more about how my body and mind work – things that I’ve never thought about before! (concepts like “back body and front body”, “flexion and extension”, and the role of the central nervous system and how it integrates signals from proprioception, vision, and the vestibular system.) I’ve had a really hard time understanding my body (why does my lower back always hurt? Why do I slouch? Why is my shoulder tight?) and he is amazing at diagnosing root causes just by watching me move. It’s been a fascinating and transformative journey – one that I so look forward to continuing. Miles is usually the best part of my day.”

-Naomi G.

“It makes a great difference when you learn to do workouts that help your body in the way your body needs, rather than just having sets of general workouts. That is what Miles specializes in, and he is excellent at it. Combining physical activity with mental focus makes a more complete workout. In addition to custom workouts, Miles worked on past injuries, posture, breathing, focus, and balance. He removed bad habits during workouts and increased performance with less energy. Having just become a father he worked around our schedule and we were able to train in different areas, keeping the workouts fun and new. We’ve learned so much from him and still use what he has taught us every day. With his calm and relaxed conduct, it was easy to become good friends and someone who we confide in. I highly recommend Miles.”

-John H.

“Miles Sanchez thinks out of the box because he put me out of the ankle-foot-orthotics (AFO) by encouraging me to get lightweight barefoot shoes even though I have left foot drop. This revolutionary idea gave me freedom for which I'm eternally grateful. I no longer wear AFO for short walks. My enjoyment of life increased and my left big toe is happier as well! You want Miles to work with you through things and who knows, maybe you will get your freedom back too!”

-Arcadius K.

“Dear Miles, I would say that working with you really kicked off a shift for deeper exploration between my body and my brain, and helped put me on the path to true health, not the twisted standards devised by the diet or food industries. What you initially introduced me to was so new and different and easy, it felt like pure magic! I could have pain in my shoulder, do some balance and breathing, and then POOF it was immediately better. It gave me confidence that my body was wiser than I gave it credit for, that it was talking to me in a language I wasn't (yet) fluent in, and that there was a path forward that wasn't about deprivation, guilt, shame or anything negative about myself. Now as I'm learning the concepts behind the exercises we did together, I'm slowly learning my body's language, and it's a fascinating, gentle, and healing conversation! Thank you so much for being the one to open this door for me, and for being the brilliant, kind soul you are. I am eternally grateful to you.”

-Tracy D.

“Miles is a great trainer. As a two-time Division 1 National Champion and former professional athlete, I've had the privilege of working with many different trainers over the years. Miles really takes the time to address the specific needs of each individual client. I would highly recommend working with him if you want to improve your performance and overall well-being. Thanks, Miles!”

-Cole R.

“Miles has been training my 14-year-old for many months now, and I have witnessed Eli's growth in so many ways as a direct result. Eli had been discouraged at a young age by a vulgar basketball coach, changing the course of his young years away from any kind of sports activity. He lost all confidence in his physical ability and chose sedentary activities as a result. He at age 13 started to show an interest in the sport of boxing and in fact asked Miles himself if he would train him, which is a testimony to Miles's approachable character. The result of Miles's training has resulted in a healthy focus on fitness as well as healthy eating. I see a renewed confidence in Eli in nearly every aspect of his character. I see him making better food choices as well as healthier activity choices. I am so very grateful to you, Miles! Well done!”

-Dayna D.S.

“Miles is a colleague of mine who I respect and cherish for his personality and a vast amount of knowledge in things beyond the physical. I came across his brand and knew he was the type of trainer who cared about making a difference and that is exactly what you'll feel upon working with him.”

-Jose S.

“I've been employed at multiple gyms and worked with dozens of personal trainers in the industry. There were many competent individuals among them who work very hard to provide quality service. However, among that long list, Miles is the only trainer that I would feel comfortable working with someone I care for as much as my Mom. He's an excellent motivator, trainer, and friend who will help you reach your goals without breaking your body in the process.”

-Jaeger D.

“I enjoyed working with Miles because he was creative, gentle, patient, and generous with his time. He was fun to work with and I looked forward to our sessions. I am 65, and my primary goal was to improve my balance, and we achieved that end. After working with him I have been stumbling and falling less. He introduced me to many routines that I had never done; all of them improved my stamina and strength. He is a creative trainer that can tailor a program to fit your needs. I highly recommend working with Miles.”

-Trudy A.H.

“Miles really helped me understand how every part of my body works together to deliver my health and wellness and helped me become much more in tune with my body, after years of me neglecting to ever listen to its needs. Miles is not a typical trainer - he has a vast variety of tools and knowledge and really customized his approach to what I needed and how my body was reacting to different exercises. I'm really grateful for our time together"

“I highly recommend working with Miles to correct injuries, maintain healthy habits, and excel to reach new fitness goals. It has been extremely productive working with him for me, and I am a runner and surfer, and do a variety of other sports every day. Miles started working with me when I had multiple injuries: Achilles tendonitis, a hip flexor strain, and a shoulder/rotator cuff injury. Miles did a lot of troubleshooting and walked me through many different drills, exercises, and assessments that helped to pinpoint the right type of regimen to help correct the problems at their source. He was always able to explain the reason for each of these different activities and recommend new ways to expand both my physical and mental abilities related to fitness. It revealed to me lots of habits I had not even known I had developed over the years that were counterproductive. Now I am back to running, surfing, paddle boarding, and other sports full time in just a few months of working with Miles. I also have started to develop more healthy life-long habits I know will benefit me long term. My goal is to be able to do these activities as long as I can, and Miles is helping me do that starting now. Thank you, Miles!!!”

-Austin B.

“Working with Miles has been amazing. He is so knowledgeable and thoughtful, taking a holistic look at health and wellness that is unlike any other trainer I’ve worked with. His Z-Health focus has shifted the way I think about training: I come out of sessions feeling calm and energized, rather than depleted. And yet, the more I work with him, the more clearly I can see my progress in other activities. As someone who bikes, surfs and generally lives an active life, training with Miles has been a great investment.”

-Anonymous

“Miles is a fellow movement trainer and wellness coach who I've known for some time now. He has a uniquely thoughtful approach when working with his clients - one that addresses the whole individual and helps people improve not only their fitness but also their overall experience in life. His work is truly impactful and the relationships he creates show his genuine concern for the well-being of others.”

-Chris G.

“Before working with Miles, I had always tried to figure out fitness on my own through group classes or Youtube videos. While that often worked temporarily, I always found myself injuring myself accidentally or not understanding what I was doing completely. Since I've started working with Miles, I've started to see the importance of working not just hard but smart. He is so great at explaining concepts from his wealth of knowledge about holistic health and wellness and I find myself learning something new every time I work with him. He is not what I had imagined a personal trainer to be like -- He is a million times better! I always leave a session with him feeling refreshed, inspired and listened to. He isn't about just throwing you into a tough workout - he really cares about what he does and prioritizes optimizing your experience to be suited to you specifically. I encourage anyone with the opportunity to work with him to do it immediately! He is kind, positive and genuine. You will feel so lucky to know either of them! Highly recommend!”

-Melissa M.

“Always have a positive experience for my mindset of being physical. My physical disability from day to day helps to build strength and endurance. I highly recommend Miles for all areas of strengthening, endurance, eating clean, and being mindful of my capability.”

-Dorissa S.

“I strongly recommend Miles to any person (especially busy professionals) looking for a personal trainer that respects and diagnoses your capabilities on a daily basis and optimizes your exercise routine to maximize neurological, mental, and physical health. My experience with Miles as a trainer for the past 12 months has been overwhelmingly positive. Miles is a detailed and supportive trainer that genuinely cares about improving your overall health by thoroughly understanding your physical, neurological, and mental capabilities in order to create and guide you through an individualized exercise regimen. Miles created a supportive and structured environment with clear goals to help me transform from a relatively inexperienced and physically unfit individual into someone with proper technique and a strong physical core. The emphasis on proper technique ensured that I did not strain or hurt myself as we gradually pushed my body into a more rigorous routine. Exercising with Miles not only improved my physical fitness but also improved my sleep and gave me more energy throughout the day. Most important, Miles was constantly adjusting my workout routine to focus on my personal capabilities and areas where I needed to improve. This was evident when I had the misfortune of experiencing a painful foot injury (completely unrelated to working out with Miles) which made it difficult for me to walk and exercise. Miles focused on diagnosing the sources of pain not just in my foot but in my back and neck, which resulted from walking with a limp. Miles developed an exercise routine to mitigate foot pain while making sure that I maintained core strength and exercised contralateral muscle groups that I was avoiding using as a result of foot pain. Consequently, I was able to experience less pain and recovered my overall physical capabilities quickly once the foot injury healed.”

-Juan C.

“I highly recommend Miles Above Fitness! This is a place you will come to train for a lifetime. They take the time to ensure you are moving well, they take time to ensure you are staying on track to not only meet but exceed your goals, and they take the time to connect with each person. The level of knowledge they have is astounding. You're just not a "Client passing through" you become part of training that strives to make everyday life better through body, mind, and spirit. Simply the best training, and life coaching I have ever experienced. You will not find anything better than this!”

-Joshua H

“Miles has great attention to detail regarding strength and conditioning. I have known him for years and can easily notice that his heart and passion go into fitness. My daily routines consist of workouts he provided and would recommend others to his business.”

-Benjamin Y.

“I have been training consistently with miles and he's helped to vastly improve my physical health and overall well-being. I'm an active runner and surfer and like to think that I don't need training. But when a back spasm had me sidelined on the couch for several weeks, I turned to Miles to redress some of the pains I was experiencing. What's been unique about Miles's approach is that we spend time on fitness and strength, but also on addressing tensions in my neck, jaw, and even vision. These exercises have allowed me to do the things I really love to do, rather than waiting for the pain to go away. I highly recommend Miles!”

-Ethan C.

“Miles is really helpful, friendly, and truly cares about the people he trains.  The training is great, as he pushes you right when you need to be, just past your comfort zone, but never too much.  Highly recommend him!”

-Jarod L.

“Before I met Miles, I had a pretty typical engineer lifestyle. I drank around 10 cups of coffee a week. I had a sporadic daily routine: going to bed after 1 AM sometimes, frequently skipping breakfast, or sitting all day in front of screens. I woke up in the middle of the night many days a week and had almost constant tightness around my shoulder and chest, both of which were also causing emotional stress. I knew my energy level was low, needed to reduce my caffeine addiction and stress level, and wanted to change my lifestyle, but didn’t know how to approach it. I signed up for a group exercise membership with the intention of improving my health and energy level in general. Despite obvious improvements at the beginning, the daily group exercise sessions introduced additional muscle pains and did not improve my energy level very much. I usually felt beat instead of chilled or recharged. Sometimes, I had to drink a good amount of coffee in order to perform well during the group exercise, which did not bode well looking back from now. I have been training with Miles for more than 6 months now. The overall experience has been great. My athletic intelligence has increased by an order of magnitude, thanks to Miles’ coaching. I quit coffee completely, but still regularly feel energized throughout the day, especially after workouts. I enjoy workouts nowadays because I know how to finish my daily routine at a higher energy level, feeling recharged. I have a much better lifestyle now, with better sleep and a better diet. And above all, I now feel more confident about the trajectory of where my overall health is heading. I enjoy working with Miles. He pays a great deal of attention to my form during workouts, which is particularly important for setting up a sound foundation for my exercise habits and routines. The diversity of drills makes each training session interesting, and sometimes challenging. Miles is easy to talk to, and his dog is very friendly. He is a great professional trainer with a lot of knowledge, and my experience has been quite pleasant and very valuable.”

-Huang Y.

“I'm a software engineer in my early 30s who was suffering from chronic fatigue, in the sense that I felt tired all of the time in a way that was becoming debilitating for maintaining good work and personal relationships. I decided to try getting a personal trainer since I didn't exercise that regularly and thought my fatigue could be connected to that. Through my office gym, I was connected to Miles, who worked with me twice a week in one-hour sessions and also enrolled me in a year-long online program called Precision Nutrition. The PN coaching program was great. Working with Miles, I developed a regular, and progressive, weekly exercise regimen, and I also permanently lost 20 pounds (when I say permanently, I mean it happened without any kind of sacrifice or psychological stress of some sort, it just gradually trains you to eat less in a way that after one year-plus is still my eating behavior. I actually feel sick if I eat as much as I used to now, it's kind of shocking...) All of this success and I was still feeling exhausted, like I had a small store of limited energy that I could only use on one thing and then feel terrible for the rest of the day. The quality of that limited energy had improved greatly, but it was still severely limited. It was Miles who determined that the root cause of my problem was a sleeping issue. It sounds obvious in hindsight but I really had no idea. I didn't get great sleep but it wasn't like I had insomnia, so it never crossed my mind. The great thing about Miles is he matches your level of interest and curiosity. Miles not only gave me suggestions for improving my sleep but also recommended books and encouraged me to look at the evidence around me on what was improving my sense of well-being. I ended up going so far as to get a CPAP device, which at the start was a drastic improvement, it felt like I was cured. Later the quality started to fall again, but it was thanks to Miles' coaching and a book recommendation from him that I was able to determine I had a combination of mouth-breathing and positional sleep apnea (if I sleep on my back I snore and can't breathe well if I sleep on my side I'm fine.) Boom. No more PAP machine and I feel better than ever, with energy that lasts all day. Miles is like a part scientist, life coach, exercise trainer, and nutritionist all in one package. He works hard to personalize his approach to your well-being, and I owe him my gratitude for making me feel like a healthy, normal human being again. Thanks, dude!”

-Michael Orts

“I am a disabled veteran. I suffered a lower back injury which has caused me chronic pain for the last ten years. This injury has prevented me from following through with a long-term workout regimen because I usually start to develop a more intense, debilitating pain shortly after starting. However, working with Miles has forever changed my life for the better. I have now learned how to avoid strain on my back while still being able to strengthen it. I've only been working with him for about three months, but in that short time, I've regained mobility, had a noticeable gain in core strength, and had a dramatic reduction in chronic pain. I've had other professionals try to help me with my condition, but none have been as effective as Miles. I believe the key difference is Miles' attentiveness to what I say and his expertise.”

-Tom I.

“Despite my best intentions, I find it hard to get myself to the gym to work out on a regular basis.  Luckily, Miles Sanchez came into my life!  I think the best way to describe Miles is that he is client-centered.  That is, he really thought about who I am, what I need, and want I was hoping for in my training.  I felt really supported by him and looked forward to our workouts.  Just a few weeks after starting to train, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  After my surgery and through my radiation treatments, Miles was incredibly attentive to what I needed to do (and not do) to regain my strength, flexibility, and most of all my wellness.  When I was tired from treatments, he designed light workouts that focused on other areas.  When I was feeling good, he gently pushed me.  More than other people I’ve trained with, I always feel that Miles is thinking about what’s going on.  He gives thoughtful advice, but isn’t pushy, about things like diet and sleep which are so important to health.  I’ve loved working out with Miles!”

-Jenny C.

“Miles is a great trainer! He has unique characteristics that set him apart from any other trainer I have known. Truly wholistic-- he trains, diagnoses, corrects, and attends to mind and body. He has been of extraordinary help to me with some mobility issues related to aging. Skilled, sensitive, perceptive, wise. I recommend him highly!”

-Charles B.

“Miles is great to work with.  He’s been quite patient yet persistent with me.  I’m over 50 and before I met Miles I was a slug and gaining weight.  I didn’t like the way my clothes fit me and my self-confidence was slowly declining.  All I was doing for exercise was taking the dog for a walk.  I had been an athlete in my earlier years and I wasn’t used to not being in shape.  Miles was up for this challenge.  Although I told him “No, I’m not doing that often”, he found alternatives that fit me.  I’m on a path to take me back to my comfortable size and weight thanks to Miles.  I’ve met my goals and I’ve added yoga to my exercise routine.  Before Miles, I felt too self-conscious to try yoga again.  He’s built up my confidence and now I work out 3-4 times a week.  A big improvement from just walking the dog every now and then.  Thanks, Miles, for taking care of me!”

-Nicki

“When looking for someone to oversee your health, I find it very valuable to have someone who's not only professional (shows up on time, is attentive, replies to messages, keeps up to date with recent research), but also someone who genuinely cares, is there to listen and work through potential obstacles that surface in a given wellness program. Miles does just that and beyond. He is attentive to form, making sure that each movement completed is intentional and safe, which results in more progress, more enjoyment, and fewer obstacles. He listens, and I mean really listens to you. In my opinion, what better way to succeed than to have someone there who gives you the space to be understood and reassured that everything is okay? He does a great job of reminding you that he is there to support you in any way he can, via his encouraging follow-ups. His time spent outside of the sessions checking in, emailing, or even visiting in person, is unique to this field. It shows that he's continuing to think of you and your success well after the 60-minute session. He's more than what you would expect out of a personal trainer. He's a caring coach, an awesome supporter, and a focused professional. If you get the opportunity to work with him your life will be changed: you'll walk away knowing what it is like to have support, encouragement, and strategies on how to further navigate your health. You'll learn how to better eat, move and live in a way that adds meaning to your life. I would highly recommend Miles!”

-Alyssa S.

“I love working with Miles.  He is a lot of fun to be around and does a great job of pushing you to do your best while being supportive.  He makes sure you get the most out of every session and doesn’t feel like just a trainer, but rather a partner in your effort to improve yourself.  Miles tailored our training to address specific goals based on his assessment of my strengths and weaknesses.  For the things I needed to improve, he found fun ways to work on them and to challenge me to get better.  And he keeps evolving our training curriculum to keep things fresh.  Finally, when I would show up with an injury, he was instrumental in helping identify the potential source of the problem and providing solutions.  For instance, I have been suffering from a nagging neck injury off and on, and with his help, we worked on some posture issues, exercise techniques, and sleep habits which exacerbated the problem.  Within a couple of weeks, I felt much better and, most importantly, have a better understanding of how to keep it from flaring up.  I wholeheartedly recommend Miles!”

-Scott R.

“From the get-go, it was clear that Miles is an active listener who takes the time to really get to know me as a whole person.  It was great being able to openly discuss how other factors in life were impacting our workouts. One of the most salient takeaways from my time with Miles is focusing on the big picture and the long haul versus stressing about small factors that don’t bring value.”

-Renee S.

“Miles really does take it above and beyond when it comes to fitness. I had an accident when I was working and needed physical therapy after surgery. One of my friends told me about Miles. He's the best personal trainer ever! There were so many times I wanted to quit, but he kept me motivated. He was always smiling and ready to work with me, more pertinence than a monk! I can't say enough great things about Miles. The work accident was quite unfortunate, but I will say I was really fortunate to meet and work with someone like Miles. Thank you, Miles!”

-Trevor K.

“I've had such a wonderful experience working with Miles during my strength and conditioning sessions with him. I will start by saying how hard it is to find a trainer that truly cares about your well-being. He guides you in a way that doesn't come off as pushy or commanding. When I was struggling, Miles was patient and kept pace with my limitations. He also motivated me when he knows I was still able to give my best effort. Also, the facility caught me off-guard because it didn't feel like the other fitness centers that I've been to. The genuine kindness, positive energy, and passion that Miles brings radiate throughout the gym. As a result, it creates a friendly and cheerful environment. You can feel it by seeing the interactions of other people. You can definitely tell that people enjoy being in this place. Overall, my experience with Miles is bar-none, the best I've had. I highly recommend Miles to anyone that needs physical help, has any fitness goals, or just has a desire for a healthier lifestyle. You will not regret it!”
